Burial Beer Seasoned Skillet 2019

What the brewers say

A blend of multiple vintages of our stout aged with coffee in bourbon barrels.

What our panel thought

Hugh green-coffee note up front, more dominant in the nose than in the taste. Beautiful balance of spicy barrel character, light coffee, and sweet milk chocolate. Sweet finish is balanced with enough alcoholic heat and chocolate bitterness. Really well done.

What our editors thought

The slightly thin and sweet hazelnut-coffee aroma leads into a mildly structured body that’s more sweet than bitter, with almond-meets-chocolate-croissant flaky pastry notes alongside drip coffee with three pumps of hazelnut syrup that carry through into the finish.
